How to get there from each area
- Ávila y el Valle Amblés
- From Ávila to Madrid the route is the AP-51 toll road to Villacastín and then the AP-6, which crosses the mountains through the Guadarrama tunnel and continues as the A-6; toll-free, the N-110 and the Alto del León pass. For Barajas the route skirts Madrid on the M-40 or M-50, and the conventional train via El Escorial stops in Madrid, not at the airport.
- La Moraña
- Arévalo sits beside the A-6, which runs down towards Madrid via Villacastín and the Guadarrama tunnel without going through the city of Ávila. For Barajas the route continues from the A-6 onto the M-40 or M-50.
- Valle del Tiétar
- From the Tiétar valley nobody goes up to Ávila to reach Madrid: the valley road continues towards San Martín de Valdeiglesias and enters Madrid from the south-west, or drivers drop down to the A-5 through Toledo province. For Barajas the route crosses Madrid on the M-40 or M-50.
- Las Navas del Marqués y el Guadarrama abulense
- From Las Navas the way to Madrid descends via El Escorial and the Guadarrama area to the A-6, or goes up to the N-110 and AP-6 at Villacastín. For Barajas, either way, the route continues on the M-40 or M-50.
