Leaving from Alto Tormes y valle del Corneja

The west of the province, on the northern side of Gredos: Piedrahíta, in the Corneja valley, and El Barco de Ávila, on the Tormes. They are mountain market towns with summer tourism and small villages around them that rely on Ávila for hospital care.

Which way it goes

The route climbs to Ávila on the N-110 and from there the AP-51 joins the AP-6 towards Madrid. As far as the capital it is a mountain road, with passes that can have snow in winter.

From Ávila province there is no way to reach Barajas without changing in Madrid, and the first trains do not arrive in time for the earliest flights. From the Tiétar valley there is no train at all: a car is the only practical option.

When demand peaks

• Snow on the passes (December to March): Snow and ice affect the Pico pass, the Gredos crossings and the Alto del León, and Ávila, at over a thousand metres, has very cold mornings. In winter, trips across the mountains need more margin.

Tip: From the Tiétar valley to Barajas, say so when booking: the route heads to Madrid down the valley rather than through Ávila, and the pickup time is worked out differently.

Airport pickup

For arrivals, the driver waits in the terminal with a name sign and helps with your luggage. We track the flight number, so a delay costs nothing extra within the terminal’s complimentary waiting time.

For early flights

We recommend leaving El Barco de Ávila at least 181 minutes before you want to be at the check-in desk. We operate through the night, always with an advance booking.
